06/22/2011 Scripture

I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart. I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O Lord. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly. Do not withhold your mercy from me, O Lord; may your love and your truth always protect me.

– Psalms 40:8-11 NIV

06/21/2011 Scripture

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, “The Lord be exalted!” Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay.

– Psalms 40:16-17 NIV

Find North Using A Clock Face

Hold an analog watch flat, with the hour hand aimed at the sun. South will be halfway between the hour hand and 12. North is 180 degrees in the opposite direction. Adjust for daylight saving time by using 1:00 instead of noon. If you wear a digital watch, draw a clock face on the ground. This technique works for North America below Alaska, but should only be used for emergency navigation. Always bring a map and compass of your route.

06/20/2011 Scripture

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymm of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.

06/19/2011 Scripture

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”  And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

06/18/2011 Scripture

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in him. For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV

06/16/2011 Scripture

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. The eyes of the Lord are in every place keeping watch on the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

– Proverbs 15:1-4 KJV

Get beyond your own backyard.

It was a beautiful Wednesday evening. Our family went for a walk around our neighborhood. We walked up to the library and returned some books. Then we walked to the Topper Popper and had some ice cream. We snapped a few photos along the way. We hope you enjoy them.

06/15/2011 Scripture

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation. For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.

– 1 Corinthians 3-7 NLT
